Q:
Does Quick-Key support base clusters with extended attributes?
A:
NOCI processing is automatically invoked when a dataset with extended attributes is opened. NOCI processing reduces the processing efficiency, but still creates multiple alternate indices with a single read of the base cluster.
Q:
Can Quick-Key be used to create multiple AIX files at once?
A:
This is one of the primary reasons to use Kwik-Key. Up to 9 alternate indices can be created with a single pass of the base cluster.
Q:
How many times is the input VSAM file read if you have multiple BLDINDEX statements for the same VSAM cluster in one step?
A:
Kwik-Key builds up to 9 AIX files while reading the VSAM base cluster only once per BLDINDEX statement.
If there are multiple BLDINDEX statements, the VSAM file is read again.
